Dr. Alyssa Cairo understands the stress that comes from stepping into a dentist's office, so she wanted to put her patients at ease at her Dexter Dental Center.

"I didn't want that intimidating, dental feel," Cairo said. "It's hard enough going to the dentist."

"I want patients to feel comfortable," she said. All of the patient chairs have a gentle massage feature. There's an overhead television screen in each of the exam rooms where patients can listen to a CD, relax to a DVD or watch cable TV.

"It takes their minds away from being at the dentist," Cairo said.
They're also able to watch educational videos on dental procedures such as root canals or crowns, and see their x-rays up-close.

She took a two-story manufactured home located in rural Dexter, four miles from the heart of downtown, and transformed it into a lodge setting.

 

Natural light streams across the stone fireplace in the waiting room. Other touches include the stonework counter and accents throughout the practice, wood floors, leather chairs, flat screen TVs in both the reception and patient rooms.
